Concealed Carry Holsters
After getting your concealed carry permit, you need a good holster to secure your weapon and ensure that it is concealed at all times. Without the right holster, you may find you and your visible gun at the center of attention even if that is not your intention. Common concealed carry holsters come in a variety of materials from plastic to leather, and often clip on a belt or belt loops. Concealed Carry Holsters continued
Larger weapons may require shoulder holsters, which can use your body, your jacket, and your arms to conceal the profile of a weapon. Many have a special pivoting back piece to allow the harness to flex as you move and also include an ammo pouch. Even if you carry a large pistol or revolver, you will find several fits and varieties that work for your body type and your preferred draw style.
If you have a small weapon you may wish to use an ankle holster. This type of conceal carry is meant for very small handguns, and use your pant legs to conceal the profile of the weapon. Obviously anything larger than a small handgun would likely be too noticeable next to your calf, and tighter pants will make it difficult to conceal the shape of the weapon on your leg.
When you are choosing a concealed carry holster, be sure to consider the type of weapon you are trying to conceal, and whether you need a left or right handed draw. There are plenty of high quality holsters on the market, so it's just a matter of trying on a few for size before finding the professional fit that meets your needs. No matter which style you choose, we all know that there is a right way and a wrong way to do everything. Lots of people have pretty bad form when it comes to drawing a gun from a holster, so keep in mind that practice makes perfect. And remember: Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. Build the skills before you try to pick up speed.
